News: Unidentified gunmen have ambushed and killed nine Pakistani troops.

Around midnight on Thursday night gunmen ambushed a military vehicle near a railway station in the town of Quetta killing nine soldiers and injuring at least four others who had just returned from leave. The attack came just hours after a visit to the centre by a senior American official. A spokesman for a local rebel movement, the Baluchistan Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the attack. The rebels have been waging a low-intensity war for years, demanding greater autonomy as well as a larger share of revenues derived from local natural resources.
