As of November 2005, there are twelve novels in the Flashman series. They are some of the best, and funniest, novels about men at war ever written.

They can be read in any order, but, if you haven't yet read the series, start with Flashman, Flashman at the Charge, and Flashman in the Great Game. The military backgrounds are the First Afghan War, the Crimean War, and the Indian Mutiny.
